現在日本の入管施設では在留許可を持たない外国人が多数収容されています。
収容には期限がなく、また近年入管が強硬な態度を強めたため、２年3年それ以上収容されている人もいます。こうした長期収容は収容者の精神や体を破壊するだけではなく、その家族や家族との関係を破壊します。この拷問からのがれるには「死ぬしかない、という所まで追いつめられる人々」たくさんもいます。
じじつ、ここ10年でブラジル人、韓国人、フィリピン、ミャンマー、イラン、カメルーン、スリランカ、ベトナムやインドの人の収容者が病気や自殺になって亡くなっています。
今年も長期収容への抗議の為、ハンガーストライキを行っていたナイジェリア人の収容者が、職員の目の前で亡くなりました。「餓死でした」日本のみなさん、これは「入管の問題」や「外国人の問題」と思わないでください。
入管で収容者が餓死するのを放置することを許す社会は道ばたで餓死しそうな人を放置するかもしれない。そしてそれは私やあなたかもしれない。
ルールや決まりを守ることが、人の命や人生、生活を守ることより大切にされる社会は、国籍に関係なく、私たち全ての人間の命や尊厳をおびやかすではないでしょうか？
このメッセージをこの国で暮らす「わたしたち」ひとりひとりに、そしてこの現状を変えるために、行動して下さる、立場ある方々に向けて送ります
At present, many foreign people who do not have a status of residence are detained at Immigration Centers in Japan.
There is no limit on the detention period. Since the Immigration Services Agency has been taking a harder line in recent years, some people have been detained more than a few years. This long-term detention destroys not only mental and physical health of the detainees, but also their family's health and their family relationships. Many detainees have been driven to their breaking point and think that there is no choice but to die in order to be freed from the torture. In fact, detainees from Brazil, South Korea, Philippine, Myanmar, Iran, Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and India died of illness and from suicide in this decade.
Also in this year, a Nigerian, who had been on a hunger strike against the long-term detention, died under the eyes of staffs at the center. The cause of death was "starvation".
Everyone in Japan, please do not think that this is a "matter of Immigration Centers" nor "matter of foreign people". The society where people ignore the fact that the detainee was neglected to death in starvation might also neglect a person dying in starvation on a street. And the dying person might be you and I. I am afraid that the society where following rules is preferred to protecting people's lives would threaten all of our human lives and dignity, regardless of nationality.
I send this message to each one of "us" living in this country and to people in a position to take actions in order to change the present situation.
